Senator McIlhinney Urges Parents, Educators to Protect Children Against Online Bullying, Predators

HARRISBURG – State Sen. Chuck McIlhinney (R-10) is urging parents and educators to learn more about protecting their children from cyber-bullying and online child predators through a new nationwide education program.

Sen. McIlhinney said that the Internet Keep Safe Coalition provides teachers, parents and kids with a wide range of useful tips on how to prevent children from falling victim to sexual predators and bullying on the Internet. The program offers advice for parents on how to teach their children to be safe online. The program also provides free educational materials for teachers, including worksheets, coloring books and printable brochures.

In addition to providing information for educators and parents, the organization's website, www.ikeepsafe.org, offers fun activities, games and animated movies for children to help them learn how to avoid dangerous Internet activity.

More information is available at the Internet Keep Safe Coalition website at www.ikeepsafe.org or by calling toll-free 1-866-794-7233. Schools and community groups that are interested in materials, speakers or presentations can also contact the Attorney General's Education and Outreach Office by calling 1-800-525-7642 or by email at education@attorneygeneral.gov.
