Weekly Updates Available on River Road Construction Projects

HARRISBURG – Weekly updates are now available online for the Route 32 River Road construction projects, according to Sen. Chuck McIlhinney (R-10), Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-143) and Rep. Bernie O'Neill (R-29)

The updates will include the construction schedule, detours, descriptions of the work to be performed and more information on projects that have already been completed. The weekly updates will be available on all three legislators' websites; www.senatormcilhinney.com, www.repquinn.net , and www.reponeill.com.

"This construction impacts many of our district residents and business owners, so it makes sense to provide as much information as possible on the schedule that PennDOT is following along River Road," McIlhinney said. "I have worked closely with Representatives O'Neill and Quinn to make this information available, and I am pleased that PennDOT has agreed to work with us to provide updates on a weekly basis."

"We are acutely aware of the difficulties that this road work will cause.  We are committed to working with our constituents and with PennDOT to provide information and a general time line for the project. The lack of road access is a safety issue, a quality of life issue and is a hardship for businesses along River Road.", Quinn said.

In addition to providing updates, McIlhinney, Quinn and O'Neill all worked to ensure local access to the businesses along Route 32 will be maintained throughout construction.  Local businesses are permitted to add their signage to the PennDOT detour signs alerting travelers to the area that they are open for business.

"It has been our goal to make this difficult construction process as hassle-free as possible for local residents, businesses and commuters, O'Neill said.  By providing weekly updates, we are hoping to minimize the inconvenience that those who frequent this road will face.", O'Neill said.

Constituents who want more information about detours and construction projects along River Road can contact Senator McIlhinney's district offices by calling toll-free 1-866-739-8600, Representative Quinn's office at 215.489.2126 or Representative O'Neill's office at 215.441.2624.
