For Immediate Release Governor Signs McIlhinney Manufactured Home Reinstallation MeasureHARRISBURG – The governor signed legislation into law today that will set uniform standards for the re-installation of manufactured homes, according to the bill's sponsor Sen. Chuck McIlhinney (R-Bucks and Montgomery). McIlhinney's bill authorizes the state Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to develop guidelines to help ensure that any manufactured home that is moved and reinstalled will meet suitability standards for such things as foundations and frost depths that affect the welfare of occupants. "DCED has established strict installation standards to ensure manufactured homes are safe for occupants, but they lack the legal authority to set similar standards when a home is moved and reinstalled elsewhere," McIlhinney said. "This new law will ensure fire safety, structural integrity and other vital concerns for homeowners are addressed when homes are reinstalled." The bill was introduced by McIlhinney with the support of DCED, the Pennsylvania Manufactured Housing Association and several local codes enforcement groups. CONTACT: Heather Cevasco
